What is the difference between manufactured and modular homes?

Manufactured homes are constructed according to a code administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD Code). The HUD Code, unlike conventional building codes, requires manufactured homes to be constructed on a permanent chassis. Modular homes are constructed to the same state, local or regional building codes as site-built homes. For more information about HUD Codes visit: http://www.hud.gov/

Why purchase manufactured homes vs. conventionally built homes?

The most obvious reason to buy a factory built home is the substantial cost difference. On average, factory built homes cost 10-35% less than conventionally built homes.

Indoor construction assures controlled conditions in building homes.

Manufactured homes can be erected in the factory in as little as 1-2 days. In comparison to conventionally built homes which take 3-6 months.

Can I Customize A Manufactured Home ?

Today's manufactured homes come with "standard" features that you would find in a site-built home. Many floor plans are available that range from basic models to more elaborate designs that feature drywall, 5/12 roof pitch, comfortable bedrooms with walk-in closets and bathrooms with whirlpool tubs.
Your lifestyle and your budget are the only limitations to the options available to you.

We encourage you to bring in your own floorplan. We also provide homes that are "accessible" for those with special needs. If you are interested in such a home, work with your retailer to order a home with accessible features, such as extra-wide halls and doorways, accessible counters and appliances, and specially equipped bathrooms. Please speak to one of our professional Housing Consultants for further details.

Is A Modular Home Better Than A Site Built Home?

The decision is clear. With a modular home you get efficiency and quality control. Work is never delayed by weather, subcontractor no-shows or missing material. Quality engineering and modular construction techniques significantly increase the energy efficiency of your modular home. A quality control process provides 100% assurance that your home has been inspected for code compliance and workmanship.

How much money can I save by choosing modular construction?

When you add up labor, material and time savings in the modular building process, the money you save by choosing modular construction over "on-site" can be substantial. Modular
building facilities buy in bulk, which can really keep the price of materials down. The construction time of a modular home is substantially shorter than "on-site" built homes; no delays due to weather or subcontractors. Shorter construction time saves you money! Finally, modular homes are built to be extremely energy efficient. This energy efficiency reduces heating and cooling cost, therefore reducing the long term cost of the home.
